How to Back Up Your Computer Files

As an internet marketer you know how important a website is.

It is the key to making you money.

Your clients visit your website and hopefully make a purchase.

Sometimes though, things do not always go smoothly.

What would you do in a crisis situation?

One day you check your website and it is not as it should be.

Your images are missing.

Or your text is wrong.

Sometimes these things can happen.

You need to reload your website.

Do you know where the original files are?

What happens if your computer stops working?

These are all questions you have to consider.

Have you backed up all your files?

If the answer is NO, then you will have big problems.

You need to get into the habit of backing up your files whenever you make changes to them.

You must make sure you know how to back up your computer files.

The best way to back up your files is on some sort or removable media.

This could be a memory stick or a cd/dvd.

I would recommend that you make two backups in case one gets damaged.

You can buy cd's or memory sticks for around $20.

Maybe that seems a lot of money but remember you will be investing in your business.

To back up your files is very simple.

I would recommend that you create a new folder.

Store everything for your website in the folder.

This includes text files, images any hyperlinks you may have.

Include everything to do with your website.

Putting everything for your website in one folder makes it easier to find thing.

Now all you have to do is put your removable media in to your computer.

It could be a cd or a memory stick.

Next you have to copy the file with all your website information to the removable media.

You can do this in several ways.

You can just drag and drop the file into the media folder.

The other way is to left click on the folder you want to copy, and then click copy.

Next you need to find the media where you want to copy the file to and once it is highlighted just click paste.

Once you have done this go to where you have copied the file and check that the copied file is there.

You now have a backup copy of your folder.

Remove the media and store it in a safe place.

If you then need to reinstall the information for the website you have a full copy of it that you can use.
