Mind Surfing
Many attribute a mind surfer to be a surfing enthusiast. For me, mind surfing are those random thoughts that lead from one to another; a way to look for ideas and solutions. Also, the collecting of unrelated ideas and connecting them, in a story, solution, poem, or some other needed place.
For example... this morning I woke up, and turned on the computer to check our bank account balance. Google is my home page, so I clicked on an arrow to a clip that was present this morning. I went from the Google clip, to the artist of the graphic that the clip was designed by. From there I went to another graphic artist, who was linked to the first artist... which lead me to an incredible "Ted Talk"... and before you know it, I was a half an hour in, and still hadn't checked my bank account balance.
Some would say "ADHD," and on this point, I may agree.
However, mind surfing can be a quite useful tool if you let your thoughts catch the right wave. The right one for you may not be the right one for me. We all are looking for those things that help us find solutions, invoke creativity, passion, emotion, and help us to think on a deeper level. For me, if I'm not feeling it, then I'm not likely to stick with it. It becomes drudgery. I want thoughts and ideas which move me, and make me think. I like to collect some of these thoughts from others, and tuck them away for the appropriate time.
Being a part of a team where mind surfing is used to bounce ideas off each other, is another great option.
Collective thoughts riding the wave... starting low, going higher, and then cresting to the perfect idea or solution is exciting. The passion of others can be quite contagious.

Albert Einstein puts it this way:
"The intellect has little to do on the road to discovery. There comes a leap in consciousness, call it Intuition or what you will, the solution comes to you and you don't know how or why."
For me, often times, ideas come from others. That's why listening if so important, and being open to digest ideas. (Chewing on words).
A couple of decades ago I read a book by Dr. Robert H. Schuller on "Possibility Thinking." Dr. Schuller found different ways to find solutions for problems that were out of the ordinary. This book opened up a whole new way to look at things for me. (I'm still looking.)
Do you see that solutions can be found in these streaming live random thoughts from others, or from ourselves? I can.
If you have a problem that needs a solution, let your thoughts ride the wave, and see what you come up with.
Give it a try, mind surfing may help.
